St. Vincent Covers Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Breaking the Girl": Watch

On Sunday night (January 13), a group of artists that had at one time or another called Los Angeles their home banded together to raise money for those affected by the horrific Woolsey fire. Aptly named Malibu Love Sesh, the benefit featured St. Vincent performing an acoustic set, and Los Angeles natives Beck and Red Hot Chili Peppers, who headlined the event at the Hollywood Palladium.

Though she treated the crowd to a set list of original tunes, Annie Clark did pay homage to the night's headliners by performing her own rendition of "Breaking The Girl." After admitting the 1992 hit was one of the songs she learned on guitar, St. Vincent absolutely slayed the track. Upon its conclusion, Rolling Stone points out that Clark gave a shout out to RHCP guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.

“I wanna give a very special thank you to [RCHP guitarist] Josh Klinghoffer,” she announced to the crowd, "for f**king b**ching guitar playing, but also for correcting my chords just about 20 minutes ago.”

This isn't the first time St. Vincent has covered a song live. She's covered Blondie in the past and began a recent stripped down performance with a rendition of Lou Reed's "Perfect Day."
