Georgia Mother Kills Her Two Adult Kids Before Shooting Herself

Authorities in Georgia are investigating after a 58-year-old woman killed her two adult children before taking her own life. Dr. Marsha Edwards was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound near the bodies of her 20-year-old daughter, Erin Edwards, and her 24-year-old son, Chris Edwards Jr.

The bodies were discovered by police officers who were performing a welfare check at Edwards' home. They have not determined a motive for the murder-suicide.

There were no signs of trouble with the family. Marsha and her daughter recently returned from a trip to Italy together. In one photo from that trip that was shared on social media, Edwards wrote that she "could not ask for better children."

Before going to Italy with Erin, Marsha spent time in Miami with Chris, where they attended the annual National Association of Black Journalists conference. The family appeared happy together in photos shared on Instagram by Marsha.

Edwards was the ex-wife of prominent Atlanta surgeon Dr. Christopher Edwards, who issued a statement to WXIA-TV.

"Dr. Edwards, his extended family, and friends are in a state of grief and shock, and privacy of the family is paramount as arrangements are being made."

Neighbors were shocked when they learned what happened.

"For something like this to happen and unfold, it's unbelievable," neighbor Talia Cartall told WSB-TV. "We didn't hear anything. There was no sign of violence or anything. They were wonderful people, which makes it a lot harder to just understand what went wrong."
