North Carolina Church Shooting Leaves One Person Dead

An outdoor service at a church in North Carolina was interrupted by gunfire that left one person dead. Authorities said that worshippers were gathering outside of Living Water Baptist Church in High Point on Sunday (November 8) around 3:30 p.m. when a gunman opened fire on the crowd.

When authorities arrived at the church, they found one person dead at the scene. Several other people suffered undisclosed injuries, which were described as minor. It is unknown how many people were attending the service at the time of the shooting. The victim's identity has not been released.

Officials have not released any information about the suspects or a motive for the attack. Authorities have asked anybody who may have information about the shooting to contact the High Point police at 336-883-3224.

WFMY reporter Ben Smart said that a car was towed from the scene. After the shooting, a crowd of about 50 people gathered on the front lawn of the church, which was surrounded by crime scene tape.

"Crews on scene include SBI, CSI, High Point Police. A car is being towed away by investigators. Cars are parked all around the church. Investigators remain on scene as does the large crowd. No word from police on extent or any injuries or exactly what occurred," Smart tweeted from the scene.
